Many Travelers Will Check Bags, Resulting In Billions For Airlines The extra fees don't seem to deter many air travelers from checking their bags. The majority of respondents in a new survey by The GO Group are willing to pay the extra money to unload their luggage before they board a plane at least some of the time. Just over a quarter say they always check their bags when they fly, while another 28-percent will sometimes check their bags. Just 19-percent say they keep their belongings in their possession when they fly, and never check their bags. The fees for checking luggage are really adding up for some airline companies. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics says last year the top 15 U.S. carriers raked in a total of three-point-five-billion-dollars in baggage fees.
