"Sports don't just entertain. They improve communities. They drive economies. And no other organization brings sports events to the Inland Northwest like the Spokane Sports Commission." I could not have put it in a better way. It's a statement directly from the Spokane Sports Commission's website. OK, so maybe I am a bit biased when it comes to sports. I think sports are what make the world go round. I think everyone should have an opportunity to play any sport they desire. I think we learn life lessons from sports. I think we turn to sports in times of tragedy. I think...wait, it doesn't really matter what I think, it matters what we all think. If we are all supportive of what sports can actually do, a better community is created. Businesses can prosper. Jobs are created. Children and athletes of all levels have positive outlets. In Spokane, we have The Spokane Sports Commission that once quietly led an effort to better our area through sports. Now, other cities are wondering how they do it. The list of amazing events coming to Spokane is, well, a huge list. But of course there are politics involved too. I invite you to listen in to an interview I recently did with Eric Sawyer, President / CEO of The Spokane Sports Commission.
