>>Mariners Recall Top Prospect
The Mariners called up one of their top minor-league prospects from Triple-A Tacoma before Tuesday's game. Catcher Mike Zunino was their top draft pick from 2012 and arrived in time for batting practice. I got the chance to hang with him when he played for single A Everett last season. After two seconds with him I could not wait for his arrival. And he tore up the minor leagues on his way to getting the quick call to the show. The M's have had a ton of great first round picks over the years. But as far as catchers go, this was easily the best pick since Jason Veritek.
Aaron Harang pitched a two-hit complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead the Mariners to a 4-0 win over the Astros at Safeco Field. Raul Ibanez is the most fun .220 hitter to watch in baseball. He homered and Endy Chavez scored twice to go with two hits. The game was played before one of the smallest crowds ever for a Mariners game, with the U.S. men's national soccer team playing across the street at CenturyLink Field. The Mariners go for the series sweep tonight.
>>Spurs Maul Heat In Game Three
Wow! The San Antonio Spurs hit 16 three-pointers on their way to a dominating 113-77 victory over the Miami Heat in Game Three of the NBAFinals from the AT&T Center. Danny Green connected on seven from behind the arc on his way to 27 points while Gary Neal knocked down six from deep and tallied 24 points off the bench. Kawhi Leonard posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili scored only 25 of San Antonio's 113 points as the Spurs took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. LeBron James scored 15 points with 11 rebounds and five assists in the loss for Miami. Dwyane Wade added 16 points and five assists in defeat. The Heat shot 40-percent from the field and turned the ball over 16 times. Game Four is Thursday night in San Antonio.
>>Bruins, Blackhawks Game One Tonight
The puck drops on the Stanley Cup Final tonight. The Chicago Blackhawks host the Boston Bruins in Game One of the best-of-seven series at the United Center. It marks the first Final between Original Six franchises since the Montreal Canadiens played the New York Rangers in 1979. This will be just the seventh time these teams have met in the playoffs and the first since Boston swept Chicago in the quarterfinals in 1978. The Bruins reached the Stanley Cup Final by sweeping Pittsburgh in the Eastern Conference finals, while the Blackhawks knocked out defending champion Los Angeles in five games to win the West. The Bruins and Blackhawks did not meet this year during the abbreviated regular season. Both these teams have won Stanley Cups recently, with Boston taking the Cup in 2011 and the Blackhawks the year before.
